The Eumetcal Aviation Weather Course will take place in November-December 2011. This introductory course will offer training in a yet unexplored but very important topic in aviation meteorology: COMMUNICATION with aviation users. This topic addresses one of the five top competencies aeronautical forecasters defined by WMO. The course main goal is to improve the skills of aviation forecasters in communicating and understanding the needs of aviation users.
FORMAT
This introductory course will be completely online. It will include online lectures and discussions, active participation in Forum discussions, reading material, use of web-resources and aviation customer interviews, off-line assignments and quizzes.
COURSE DATES
The course will take place 8 November - 1 December, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
To improve the understanding of the aviation user needs in general.
To improve the ability of the forecaster to correctly communicate with different users
COURSE CONTENTS
This course will introduce six aviation stakeholder groups:
Area controller and meteorology
APP controller and meteorology
Executive airline pilot and meteorology
Experienced balloonist and meteorology
Airport operation manager and meteorology
Airfield maintenance and meteorology

The results of the selection process will be announced on Friday 14 October.
The course fee is 500 EUR. Eumetcal will sponsor up to 4 participants from each member organization.
