MeteoCAL

MeteoCAL is an authoring tool for e-learning contents based on the XML language and conversion to html. The authoring is done by editing xml templates, then passing them through the html converter. A new embedded Creator application facilitates the generation of graphics on html pages, question-and-answer exercises, hotspots and drag-and-drops.

The tool requires a short experience with programming, but is fairly easy to get into. EUMETSAT holds an annual workshop to get trainers acquainted with the tool. Several examples of the e-learning modules created with the tool can be seen in the "Learning Modules" section of this web site.

The rights to the MeteoCAL tool belong to EUMETSAT, which distributes it freely to interested institutes. You are free to use these tools and develop them further according to your own needs.

The tools can be donwloaded here

The zipped file (18 Mb) contains several templates and examples of finished modules. For reference on the use of the tools, please consult the maintenance manual.

- The CAL modules realized within the Eumetcal Programme represent an outstanding example of what you can achieve with good skills in MeteoCal (except "Polar Lows").

- EUMETSAT also organizes regular workshops for improving the skills in the use of the tool. You will find information and announcements in the Eumetcal website.
